Office Expansion | 615 Willow Ave Street Ithaca NY, 14850 | 2016
The long-term vision for the Cornell Co-Operative Extension project is to develop and add to their existing structures in ways that will create additional office spaces, additional storage, a two-story greenhouse, and a new test café.
We expect this multi-phase project to be both unique and challenging. Much of the project will involve working with shipping containers; many will be used to create the storage and work space. Some containers will be situated over the existing parking lot in a way that will allow for parking underneath the structure, which will help maximize the available space on the lot. The greenhouse, which will be a teaching greenhouse to serve the general public, will feature innovative vertical gardening systems, and will be built with ETFE (Ethylene Tetrafluorethylene) film, which is a highly durable, transparent, and lightweight alternative to glass. The proposed test café would be a space where community members can come to create and test their products in a commercial kitchen, and to work towards turning their ideas in to successful business ventures.
This is an ambitious project we’re very excited to be designing.
