The owners, Sean and Jennifer Whittaker, asked JKDA to design a new lake residence and family estate at 300 Portland Point Road in Lansing, New York. The main house was designed around the idea of the kitchen as the primary gathering space, which became the “grand room.” The residence has four-bedrooms all with lake views. The projct size was ~10,000 SF that includes ample outdoor living areas including the Grand Lanai, a courtyard, and an outdoor patio. A cupola was added to provide an alternative vantage point to capture the water views that look south on Cayuga Lake with Ithaca College in the distance.
The style is based on the Tuscan architecural style with stucco with clay tile roofing.
